Situated at Tsam Chuk Wan, the monument was built by the descendants of the Hong Kong freedom fighters living in Sai Kung during World War II. The $1 million monument was completed and opened to the public in January 1989. The monument comprises 3 cenotaphs. The main cenotaph is 10 m high with inscriptions detailing the resistance put up by the Sai Kung residents against the Japanese soldiers. The monument stands on a wonderful vantage point overlooking the scenic and tranquil waters of the Sai Kung Bay.
