Characteristic

Opened in 2005, Electrical and Mechanical Services Department Headquarters was converted from the Former Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminal 2 Building. The 7-storey building occupies an area of 80,000 sq m, and is equipped with a variety of environmental-friendly facilities. The steel-like exterior wall and glass curtain entrance gives the building a modern outlook. The lobby is illuminated with natural light and designed for a contemporary style with an imposing high ceiling and automatic doors. The headquarters building has a spacious forecourt area, and the vehicular access is planted with palm trees to create greenery. There is a footbridge on the right side of the entrance connecting the headquarters with adjacent buildings. The design of the building won the Hong Kong Institute of Architects Merit Award 2004.

How to Apply

Send in the application form to relevant department(s) via the Film Services Office with information on the location, date, time, synopsis of the film, description of the scenes, size of the crew and cast, number of vehicles and use of government power supply and equipment required.

Processing time : 14 working days.

Fees

$6,870 (basic charge) for the first 4 hours, $1,935 for each subsequent 4-hour block and a refundable deposit equal to the fees payable. Both are to be paid before filming.

If extra government personnel is required to facilitate the filming, the actual cost plus overheads will be charged.

PLI cover

Applicants shall effect adequate public liability insurance at their own expense in the joint names of the Government of the HKSAR.

Remarks

Filming can only take place during non-office hours.
The applicant shall ensure that no nuisance, disturbance or inconvenience is caused during filming. No damage shall be caused to the property.
Alterations, fixing or painting to the property is not allowed.
Lighting of fire and use of fireworks, explosives and any pyrotechnic material are strictly prohibited.
The name of Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) venue shall not be identified unless prior permission has been sought and obtained.
The nature of the film shall not be a cause of embarrassment to the HKSAR Government, EMSD or any occupants of the property, nor should it offend the Laws of Hong Kong or be of immoral, defamatory or political flavour.
The applicant should clean the venue up to the satisfaction of EMSD after the filming.
Applications will be considered on case-by-case basis and the final decision of acceptance rests on EMSD. Applicants are advised to study the guidelines for location filming carefully and conduct site visit before tendering applications.
